MUSE, 2024
Studio 122
Exposure Festival
Within the exhibition space, the collective works engage in a compelling interplay of size, colour, and subject matter, inviting viewers to explore multiple entry points based on their location within the studio. Close proximity to the walls allows for intimate encounters with the artworks, which may be positioned below eye level or emerge from the ground. Stepping back, the works displayed reveal a constellation dispersed across the walls, with larger pieces commanding attention from above, creating a dynamic visual experience for the viewer.
Located at Studio 122, a collaborative space in Calgary since 2006, MUSE invites viewers into the space for the studio's rebirth and Exposure's 20th anniversary. The exhibition showcases a curated assortment of photographs created by thirteen local artists; their works capture a sense of personal inspiration and distinctive points of view. The photographers, rooted in commercial photography, expose their work from fashion, portraiture to landscape and the everyday.
